The One-Day Workshop on US Export-Import Bank in Cambodia to be held on July this year

Mr. Juhani Platt, the political & economic assistant of the Embassy of the United States of America, met H.E Nguon Meng Tech, director general of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce to inform the opening of US Export-Import Bank in Cambodia and the one-day workshop to be held in July. Mr. Juhani Platt asked for recommendation and cooperation to invite export-import-related businessmen to participate in this workshop. The workshop will focus on enhancing Cambodian awareness of the advantages of U.S products and services and to provide strategies and motivation to Cambodian importers to identify and import American products that would be suitable for Cambodia market. It will also seek to educate the local business community on the Ex-Im Bank’s new trade financing mechanism, types of products and services available to the Cambodian private sector, as well as how to access them.


According to tentative schedule, there will be three panels discussion: (1) Foreign Commercial Service, Foreign Agriculture Service, and Embassy, (2) Successful Importers of U.S Products, and (3) Service Providers. There will be around 70 businessmen attending in this workshop. The target audiences are local business and trading companies, U.S and other international companies in Cambodia, and Cambodian business association.


H.E Nguon Meng Tech, director general of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), said that CCC is pleased to help inviting its members to attend this event as soon as the U.S Embassy provides detail on what types of business and how many people to be invited. He recommended inviting some of the top members of CCC whose businesses need to import agricultural equipments or other materials for their operations. CCC will also post this news on its homepage so that its members are aware of this opportunity to obtain finance from US bank.
