A group of business delegations from ITOCHU (Thailand) led by Mr. Keita Ishi, Chief Officer for Indo-china, visited Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) on June 20, 2012 to seek for information on investment and business opportunity in Cambodia. Mr. Keita Ishi expressed his interest in investing in Cambodia. He said now more and more Japanese investors come to Cambodia. At the beginning, there were about 30 Japanese companies only but now this figure expands to more than 100 companies. This shows that Japan tends to focus on GMS market, particularly, Cambodia. Mr. Keita Ishi would like to learn from CCC about Cambodia economy, labor, electricity, and land acquisition.
H.E Nguon Meng Tech, Director General of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, briefed ITOCHU on Cambodia economy and the roles of CCC in private sector development. Cambodia has plenty of young labor forces with a lower cost compared other countries in region. In addition, the government policy is supportive to business. Investors can enjoy tax holidays and one-stop service. Electricity cost is said to be lower in coming years. Land acquisition can be done through concession or partnering with local investors. In this particular aspect, CCC could hook up ITOCHU with its members and assist in registration process and other necessary support.
