Taiwan-Cambodia Business Meeting PDF Print E-mail

Taiwanese Business Delegation from various industries launched a business meeting seeking for Cambodian partners at Cambodiana Hotel on July 01, 2010. There are 27 Taiwanese companies and about 400 Cambodian companies participated in this meeting. “Taiwan is the 6th Foreign Direct Investment to Cambodia. Cambodia is a big potential market,” said Mr. Jerry S.K. Yang, Director General of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City. According t o Taiwan Commercial Association Cambodia, there are about 180 member companies operating in Cambodia in areas such as garment, leather, paper, machine, tourism, golf, and real estate. Cambodia has an opened policy in term of currency acceptance. This is one favor conditions for investors to come. Cambodia locates in the heart of South East Asia, a strategic location for business, and economy. Taiwan investors see continuous economic growth in Cambodia from year to year. Infrastructures, electricity, airport, and seaport have been improved a lot recently.

Neak Okha Kith Meng, President of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, addressed in his welcome remarks that Cambodia used to be the 7th highest GDP growth in the world before global financial crisis. In just 5 years leading up to the crisis, the per capita income increased by 50%. With a pool of growing labor, political stability, and ongoing investment in infrastructure, it is believed that Cambodia would return to be one of the best economic performances in Asia with the GDP growth approaching 10%. Neak Oknha Kith Meng welcomed Taiwanese investors and would like to see more trade between Taiwan and Cambodia.
