Minute of Meeting between H.E. Nguon Meng Tech, Director General of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and European Commission Delegation at the Head Office of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce
On the 23rd February, 2010 at 16:00pm, there is a meeting between H.E. Nguon Meng Tech, director general of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), with the European Commission Delegation. The delegation has three members: Mr. Stepnane Passeri (project director), Mr. Fabio Artuso (deputy project director), and Mr. Dipl.Ing Marcus Rabe (project administrator).
The delegation’s intent is to discuss the possibility of cooperation with the CCC for the project ECAPIII-ASEAN and assess the current status of intellectual property in Cambodia, particularly private sector. There are five components in the project: (1) enforcement, (2) legal context and administration of IP, (3) promotion of local private on IP, (4) education, (5) improving the capacity of ASEAN secretariat. Basically, we want to create IP regional system as what is already done in EU such as patent. This involves deeply with private sector. The delegation needs the data to assess the status of IP, to plan where it will be, and to set up monitor and evaluation measure. First they would like to ask the company’s perception on IP, and then design questionnaires. Once the questionnaires are tested, they would like to partner with Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) or business associations to send questionnaires to the company. Then consolidate all answers and publish under the support of ASEAN secretariat.
In respond to this intent, H.E Nguon Meng Tech welcomes for the cooperation to conduct survey and further project implementation for mutual benefits. He emphasizes that the CCC could reach all member companies from micro and small up to medium and large size.
